I wrote this document this morning to have a basic introduction of the “Mothership Gaia - a blank new world” project that I can send out
to a couple groups that I am part of.

[half and episode before it begins / a developing system which left it’s seed state after 2 years solo R&D and is now in it’s sprouting state, ready for a tribe of culture gardeners to water it with mana.
Mothership Gaia takes the perspective that the global movement for Integral Sustainable Development can be seen as The Great Quest(ion) and that its successful propagation also depends on our ability to design the culture myth of a “humanity on a hyperjump” with imagination. The global crisis is full of danger and immense chance of potential at once. Mothership Gaias focus is on the potential and how to activate it in a playful/mythic way that is also educating.
In order to do this Mothership Gaia takes on the persona of a culture myth in the age of new media and sustainable development.
The dominant Media myth available today through the medium of cinema, DVD, Video Game, MP3, Online & Mobile Game Environment, Radio etc. are still coming mainly from the story realms of violence and consumerism. We find a high empathis on military, war, crime, terrorism, wealth, success, sex mono themes.
We need more media myth that inspire the Great Quest for integral sustainable development in a peaceful culture of all life and that show: this is possible. The dominant media myth are often ankered in apocalyptic sceneries which activate a dominant negativity towards a healthy evolution and it’s possibility. That leads to a less furtile mental culture soil which prevents healthy memes to propagate.
Mothership Gaia is attempting to fill this gab of supportive media myth. It uses partially the model of “The Matrix, Lord of the Rings and Star-Wars”, three powerful media myth all being told in multiple mediums (cinema, dvd, book, comic, audios, multiple video games, massive multiplayer online role playing games, theater, music videos).
The Mothership Gaia approach is not that of a corporate production company developing a mass media product with extremely high fundings in a closed and copyrighted system. It chooses an Open Source Social .Organism approach and inspires besides the disembodied media emergence the coming to gather in the local world of bodies and create together.
The Age of New Media made it possible for common(s) people to co-create such a media myth and to produce all the multimedia content for it in an open source matter(s). That way, the Myth and fun already begins in the development phase - not just when the product is ready and “marketed”. This approach requires the enhancement of media literacy in all developing countries (I consider all countries world wide as developing countries – without exception).
This media literacy upgrade should be achieved through local, wilderness and online edutainment programs + an edutaining Mothership Gaia liveLinux distribution which is totally integrated into the myth of the Mothership Gaia via look&feel, customized applications and content.
So what’s the beginning of the myth, the basic story of “Mothership Gaia – a blank new world” that people are invited to continue ?
“What, if we could begin again on a blank new world ?
How would we build a global culture of all life now, with all the knowledge, awareness and wisdom that we’ve been gathering so far in our evolution ?”
2007 – people all over the world suddenly discover in their online and local communication that they have a shared dream which they experience almost every night. In this dream they dissolve into light particles, travel a rainbowbridge and exit through a portal on a small island in some ocean.
World Tree Island consists of a great garden with 3 Pyraspheres and a huge tree who is able to communicate with the dreamers. The island is part of Mothership Gaia, a kind of sister planet of Mother Earth. Mothership Gaia invites the dreamer through the Tree (named Gopher) to settle on her three continents (forest/ice, tropics, desert). But before doing so, 2 missions have to be accomplished.
The crafting of the Agenda 0 and the Mogaian Charter.
Agenda 0 contains programs, strategies, solution blocks for ISHS (Integral Sustainable Human Settlement – also relates to Isis, the egypt version of Gaia or Mother Earth).
The Quest(ions) that the Agenda 0 addresses are for example: “How do we want to use the natural resources of the settled regions and how do we relate with them ? Which political systems would we use this time ? How would we produce and use energy ? Would we have a currency system and how would it look like? How would we exchange goods and regulate transporation? How would we set up social and technological structures ? What would our health system look like ?” In short: All investigatory quest(ion)s that come up when thinking of a blank new world and it’s settlement.
The Mogaian Charter contains ethical, philosophical and spiritual/religious building blocks for the Settlement.
Agenda 0 provides material for the Mission, the Mogaian Charter material for the Vision.
For the crafting of the Agenda 0 and Mogaian Charter Mothership Gaia offers her facilities on World Tree Island: The three Pyraspheres. Pyramids with a sphere on top instead of a single point which symbolizes the circular, spheric organizational model as the “ruling” principle. The three Pyrasphers are dedicated to Art, Science and Religio, three cross cultural hertitages that are all needed to craft the Agenda 0 and Mogaian Charter.
Gopher, the huge, intelligent Tree in the center of World Tree Island acts as the wise elder and guide – not through answers but through asking the right questions. That way he serves the process of crafting.
On the mission to figure out how we would settle this time it requires to ask how we do it now, how did we do it in the past and how can we do it in the future and what do we have available to do so. All the output of these questions is being stored in the Akasha, the Mothership Database. These quest(ion)s are one active bridge to the requirements on Mother Earth here and now. It prevents mediamythic escapism into a world which is not related to this world. The crafting of the two documents is the story of Episode 1.0. When accomplished the players enter “Episode 2.0 – ISHS”.
In the story it’s a night dream in which Mothership Gaia takes place but every morning the Dreamer awakes and is back on this earth. All dreamer feel that their Second Life on Mothership Gaia has great impact on their live on Mother Earth. The two worlds slowly merge together.
A blank new world invites us to take a break from our smoking and stunned heads that ask “How can we change our current deeply ensnared, unhealthy structures, kept with force and control ?” The “blank new world” is the “start new game” button which every Gamer loves when having fucked up the current game. This approach intends to liberate creativity.
A blank new world invites a blank new us. It’s not only about re-inventing (being in) the world but also what it means to be a human, what it means to be me.
The beautiful part about interactive media myth is that they allow a spectrum of various archetypes which we kind of killed in our standardized, normed, mechanical rational world. I think that’s one reason why we have more and more (especially young) people leaving the world of bodies and totally emerge into the virtual realities. We lost the mythic/magical world view on the outside but recreated it in todays Media sphere and mutated it in an odd way according to our anthropocentric world view and illness.
One of the Mothership missions is to re-download the mythic magical world view into our current global Operating System and allow a rainbow spectrum diversity of personas, archetypes, “blank new us” to arise and create the blank new world – the Renaissance of this world
The “Blank new world” is the blank, white canvas of our world visions – something that invites various paintings of this vision, facilitates a public domain gallery which elements can be taken and remixed. The “Paintings” shall inspire our specific missions – herenow on Earth and rightthere on Mothership Gaia.
So much about the basic idea, background and story of Mothership Gaia.
How is the immense project developing on a practical course ?
As I mentioned above: The current state is Episode 0.5 – Genesys sprouting. After almost 2 years solo R&D (Seeding) I am in the process of “mining” the huge mountain of explored content – of bringing more of the explored iceberg to the top – of emptying from the fullness of visionary/practical observation and to document what I have.
I am mainly doing that right now on the unfolding Media platform on http://www.mothership-gaia.org and my Blog @ http://questblog.mothership-gaia.org.
The platform also acts as a showcase of different Open Source Webware that could be used in the Mothership Gaia Media role playing game environment. The partial started sub-systems are orphans ready to be adopted by a committed team (tribe).
This virtual approach is accompanied by the development of an edutaining Performance- and Media Art Lecture Event which I want to perform here in Germany somewhen in september, in October to December in California and February 07 in La Paz, Mexico (to inspire the spanish unit of the project).
The Art’n Media Performance Lecture intends to educate in the topics of “Evolution, the global crisis and the Great Quest(ion) of Integral Sustainable Development” “Understanding Media, Mass Media and Open Source New Media – the shift from passive media consumer to active media producer” “The power of myth , trance and visionary art as integral elements of sustainable development”. It also introduces the core philosophies of Media Ecosophy (as a context model for eco media and the media of eco) and Blissness (an altruistic work model for the independent third sector). The Performance uses Video, Graphic Design, Audio, Music, Theater, Mime, Dance, lecture to “talk” about the topics.
Through communicating the Mothership Gaia material in the Web and the physical stages I intend to identify and unfold the social network of individuals, organizations and volunteers for further project development. “The sprout asks for Culture Gardeners to water it with Mana “ (Mana=Awareness, creative life force in action)
A spring gathering and conference will be held in April 2007 in the 700people village of Ziegenhagen in the amazing beauty of the Kaufunger National Forest in the center of Germany.
